City of Elmhurst Buying Frenzy Should Raise Eyebrows

If Warner’s actions were so innocent, Levin asked, why did he bury every building he owned in trusts and straw owners so he couldn’t be tied to them when he leased them to the secretary of state?Daily Herald, March 6, 2006

Why doesn't the city put their heritage museum in 180 Park? I hear that building has a lot of history.

Given the recent conflicting news reports over Wilder Mansion's future, it seems anything is still possible.

The post office building is pretty small. The museum wouldn't gain anything by getting stuck in another old building that can't be expanded to fit their desire for total history domination.

What gives?

the $18000 boy will be 4 it 4 sure. i like the new post on elections but not sure that there is any crime here. it just looks really bad especially where the money came from. its not illegal to give your boy campaign contributions from your campaign account.

the 18000 boy doesn't owe any money anymore but his filings don't show any more money coming in or any loan payment. it would look even worse if it showed that he still owed money to Dr. Frankenstein and Igor When in rome, act like the romans, right? when in dupage just make your own rules!!!!

same deal with casmir pulaski. just wait.

The tell tale story will be after this gets voted in, who will be awarded the construction 'job'? No "Pay to Play" in Mayberry.

Voted in?!!!!! What a nice concept. The very idea that decisions are made by board members in board meetings is heartwarming.

Also, I think the fact that the 18G boy's loans have been wiped from the state board of elections website looks like a coverup. If you're not guilty of anything then why would you not want the loans and how they got repaid and where you got the money from disclosed?

i think there are more 18G boys in tree city than we'd ever believe. maybe even some 18g gals?

How much land does the city own in downtown Elmhurst?

At 12:20:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

More and more every month, the question is; who are they buying it from and for how much?

Sorry 'Charlie', only the best can be alderpeople.

...only the ones that want the $$$ can be alderpeople. Nothing makes them the best, believe me.

We agree, a certain alderwoman recently made a ton of cash off the City. Also, another certain alderwoman (the wife of a prominent builder) apparently has contracts with the city. Covertly pushing for Tammy Duckworth's platform with that global warming crap. $$$$$

t squad should try writing for HBO instead of scripting dialogue with his other screen "handles"

the way to make money off the city is to get in on one of the boss's deals not the illusory penny ante fictions of your imagination.

keep sucking up, zorro or t squad or whatever you're calling yourself at the moment -- maybe someday you'll get a piece of the action.

Georgie Porgie went up the hill to fetch a bag of money, Georgie fell down and broke his crown and the rest will come tumbling after!

George got what he deserved. The Hot "Rod" or do you prefer "Bangs" or "$14 million dollar man" is public official "A" being investigated by the USAG, Patrick Fitzgerald. Pay to play. Richie is not to far distant away. I agree with you the rest will come tumbling down. Locally too with those phony 501's and the rabid guy with two first names.

Apparently the bank teller is wise to the ways of those who would gouge the city for money. The formula goes as follows.
1. Run a successful business for over 20 years in Elmhurst.
2. Invest your savings in your building and your lives in your business.
3. At the insistence of the city, buy the lot next door so your patrons have parking.
4. Now just sit and wait for a couple of years until the city condemns your property so they can give it to a developer who made a bad investment in a property that otherwise wouldn't "pay-off" for him.
5. Spend many hours every day with your lawyers to defend your right to your own property.
6. Cash out your savings so that you can pay the lawyers.
7. Spend many hours away from your business at court hearings and depositions.
8. Lie awake at night when you should be sleeping thinking about the lawsuit.
9. Discuss the lawsuit at family parties, baptisms, graduations, etc.
10. Try to earn a living while the city has "occupied" your parking lot and generally made your life a living hell.
11. Finally, after the courts have settled the matter. Collect your "bounty," roughly 1/10th the amount of money the city is paying for similar properties.
Yes, bank teller, I think you're really onto something here. But something tells me that if condemnation of property were such a path to riches, we would see the city council condemning the mayor's buddies' properties.

Million Dollar Baby, AKA ALderman Lomnicki and Northlake sister too,

You immediatley put your properties up for sale after collecting that huge cash taxpayer settlement of over $1.5 million bucks. You fox in that sheeps clothing. Clever. Won't work next round! We have all the evidence against you which is against the interests of us taxpayers! Can you or your sis measure my inseem?
