Strong Sense of Deja Vu -- Part II
Newark Pays Paper to Print Only Good News, by Associated Press, October 24, 2005
"The Newark City Council has awarded the Newark Weekly News a $100,000 no-bid contract to publish positive news about the city."
"Under the contract, the paper will work with the city's public information office to spread positive aspects of the city."
"The paper can only generate stories based on leads from the council and the mayor's office."
Does the Elmhurst Independent have a Newark Edition? Why couldn't Newark's mayor just get his former campaign manager a job as editor-in-chief and save their city $100,000? Kinda makes you wonder how "FREE" the Elmhurst Independent really is.

"The Independent saves time too because the news and opinion are in the same article."
Can't wait until The Independent starts endorsing candidates like The Press. Wait - they already do - just not on the editorial page.
